Personal Testimonial
Thank you to Chris for these lovely words.
The most influential woman in my career.
Two days after International Women’s Day, I had lunch with her.
Completely by coincidence.
When I first worked with Nicola, I’d just left the film industry and had no real plan.
The job I’d taken felt like a temporary stop.
A slightly depressing bit of admin work while I figured out what to do next.
Instead it changed the direction of my career.
Nicola was the first leader I’d ever worked with who showed me something I hadn’t really seen before.
You could be effective without being inhumane.
She got things done.
She didn’t tolerate nonsense.
But she led with empathy, intuition and genuine care for people.
She trusted people and she stepped back and let them grow.
She saw something in me before I really saw it in myself and supported me to lead work and change that I would never have imagined being responsible for at that stage of my career.
Most of all she showed me that leadership doesn’t have to look like the stereotype.
You don’t have to be confrontational or driven by ego.
You can be fully yourself.
Human, curious, kind and determined to make things better.
And that can be incredibly powerful.
It was a real privilege to catch up today.
Thanks Nicola.
